About the Event

Stone Soup Books' Plant Grateful returns again on Saturday April 20, from 9am to 12pm! Gardeners or want-to-be Gardeners, bring & pick up plants and seeds to swap and ask questions!  Local farmers are setting up for an early market sale of goods, medicinal herbs, honey, produce, crafts & some sweet treats! Community plant/seed swap + the following farmers/artisans:

  • Eco-Librium Farm LLC - Fresh seasonal produce as well as plant starts grown and provided by Claire Trail!
  • Blue Ridge Children's Museum - BRCM will be planting new folliage in the 4x4s at Stone Soup at 10am! Childrens are welcome to come and help!
  • Mary Speiker's LOCAL Honey - If you've been lucky enough to get some of Mary Speiker's honey at Waynesboro Farmers Market, you've had some of the BEST local honey offered in our area! Mary will be bringing Pints & Quarts of her raw, unfiltered Wildflower honey made possible by the bees & flora of Sherando!
  • Fera Silvae  - mushrooms, fruit and nut trees, and a variety of medicinal herbs grown by Meghan Williamson on her small forest farm
  • JMD Farm - Plants to beautify your garden and provide food for pollinators!
  • Parks & Rec - Polinator Info!
  • Southern Exposure Seed Exchange (SESE) - generously donated local, heirloom seeds for FREE!
  • Elaine Smith from Va Native plant Society and Master Naturalists group will be on hand to answer any and all questions about native plants!
  • Bonner Odell's YMCA Tai Chi/Qigong class will be taking their outside class to Plant Grateful! Feel free to join in some movement exercises and try out the 10 step Tai Chi that they're working on. They'll begin at 9am outside of Stone Soup on this Sat 4/20 with a demonstration of Tai Chi following the class at 10:15. You're welcome to join the class or just come by and watch or ask questions!
  • Pet Palace's Dog Treats for our furry friends! A new batch of cam-I-am treats (in the shapes of trees!) will be available from Cams Pet Palace; they are made with blueberries, beef drippings, egg and flour.

AND OF COURSE -- we'll be bringing the books out to the loading dock! Cart books  $1 (paperback & childrens), and $2 (hardcover). We've stocked up on great Gardening, Farming and Nature books both used and new!
