Stone Soup Books has been bookselling in the Shenandoah Valley since 2006.

 

For eight years, we combined our bookstore with a café dishing up locally sourced food on Main Street. Then we took to the road, mapping new spaces for bookselling in breweries, wineries, conferences—anywhere people gathered to discuss new ideas or listen to stories. We took our love of good food back to the farm and rediscovered the joy and pain of a fully harvested bean field, the sound of a hawk's freedom, and the good sense of muck books.

In 2020, following the lessons of the farm, we re-rooted downtown in an industrial green space next to the South River, where, whether bookselling by web or by push-cart, we were inspired by where we were and where we've been. Now, we begin our fourth chapter; once again in downtown Waynesboro, in our largest storefront yet. Our book specialties include farming, edible landscaping, nature writing, and spirit-filled sustainable living. Children's books, history, great fiction, and local interests also fill our bookshelves. We strive to offer a cozy, welcoming environment where everyone feels welcome.
