About
Kelly and Claire are hooked on making. They have come to believe that making is an irreplaceable part of every life — not only as a driving factor in individual well being (it always works for them) but also for societal progress. Thanks to widely celebrated, peer-reviewed research in neuroscience, they also know that making is key to brain health — and who doesn’t want more of that?
Join Kelly and Claire as they lay out the case for making as essential to health and progress with people of all ages. They'll also share information about their new book, "Marianne the Maker," coming this June. This event is designed for adults in all stages in their journeys and is open to the public. Invite your friends and neighbors!
All attendees will receive a voucher for free copy of "Marianne the Maker," available later this year!An author book signing will take place after the event, with copies of Kelly Corrigan's previous books available for purchase courtesy of Stone Soup Books.
Meet Marianne
Marianne’s days are filled with schedules, structure, and soccer. There’s just one problem:
Marianne is a maker. She needs every minute of her weekends to scheme and dream, to draw and design, to build and rebuild! This is the story of how a creator with a crackerjack imagination finds a

not- so-great way to skip practice and
create her masterpiece. But will her dad understand?
Told in delightful rhyme that bounces across
George Sweetland’s gorgeous collage-style
illustrations (chock-full of hidden gems),
Marianne the Maker is sure
to kindle the creative spark that lives inside all of us.
Coming June 3, 2025!
About Kelly
Kelly is a New York Times bestselling author
of four books about family life, the host of her
own PBS show and a podcast called Kelly
Corrigan Wonders. Like Claire, she can’t stop making —
books, paintings, TV shows, podcasts, meals, mistakes…
During the spring she will running around with Claire, heading
back to TED and writing another book.
About Claire
Claire is in her last year at The University of Virginia where
she is an Echols scholar and probably the school’s only
double major in Computer Science and Drama. Making is
her life — computer programs, stand up routines, screenplays,
code, songs, algorithms, pizzas… During her last semester,
she will be interning at a machine learning company as well as a
Hollywood production studio.
