LIVE MUSIC FRIDAYs
THE
AFTON AMBLERS
Friday, October 30
The AFTON AMBLERS, Stone Soup's (almost)
House Band is packed with decades of musicianship for the sheer joy
of music!!
Bouncing,
bass-playing Betty (the band's only non-Stone Soup employee) tuned her
fine vocals listening to the likes of Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn.
Emily, Stone Soup's bookseller, reflects the the Scots-Irish music tradition
of her native North Carolina through hard-driving rhythm and flat-picking
guitar, smooth fiddle-bowing, and heart-opening vocals. Switch-hittin'
Jim Plitt (summer in humpback Rocks' Visitor Center and winters behind
the Stone Soup counter) offers his "barely under the Mason-Dixon
Line" take of traditional music on the hammer dulcimer, banjo,
guitar, and mandolin. Dulcimer Dinah (Stone Soup's Music Coordinator
and mountain dulcimer teacher) gives thanks for the old-time currents
of West Virginia that sweep her along from time to time, clinging to
a banjo careening upstream.
Music begins at 6:15 p.m.
No cover charge.
Space limited.
Reservations advised.
