SOUTHWATER, the fine guys doing bluegrass, old time, country, jazz, and blues. Consistent within the performances is harmony singing, improvising and a "ragged but right" approach that doesn't take itself too seriously.
Southwater is a collective of bluegrass and accoustic musicians from Charlottesville and the surrounding areas. The members' individual musical backgrounds encompass a love of bluegrass, old time, country, jazz, blues and other musical traditions. As a result, Southwater's music stands at the crossroads of the old and the new, the traditional and the progressive. A typical set includes a range of traditional instrumental tunes, bluegrass standards, obscure covers and original compositions.
