LIVE MUSIC FRIDAYs
Connie Muscenti & Thomas Gunn
Friday, February 10, 2012
Connie Muscenti
has performed both chamber music & traditional music in a variety
of venues and was the founder of Allodola, central Virginia’s
first Italian folk band. She’s played for traditional and historical
dances and festivals, both on piano and concertina loves playing waltzes
for local dances. She has music degrees from Duquesne University and
IUP and when she’s not out playing music she teaches children
and adults at her “Rainbow Ridge Music Studio,” in Nelson
County.
ThomasGunn,
a talented multi-instrumentalist, also writes songs in a variety of
styles that are unique and difficult to categorize. They are a bit like
peripheral vision, best understood when heard obliquely. Poignant, soothing,
reminding one of an earlier time during which gentler thoughts prevailed.
Born in London, England, Thomas is a graduate of the Berklee School
of Music in Boston and teaches and performs regularly in the Charlottesville
area. For samples of his music go to thomasgunnmusic.com.
Connie and Thomas have performed together in a variety
of venues over the years, primarily in the Italian folk band, Allodola.
They’ll be bringing you a delightful, romantic mix of traditional
Italian music and Old World European melodies, along with some of Thomas’s
original songs. You might be surprised where their music takes you –
perhaps a rustic trattoria along the Amalfi coast, maybe a café
in Eastern Europe or perhaps a discrete bistro in the heart of Paris.
